For homeowners with a small to medium-sized kitchen, remodeling can present unique challenges. However, with careful planning and adherence to the “keep it simple” principle, it is possible to create a functional and stylish kitchen without breaking the bank. At Spielmaker Cabinets and Countertops, we understand the importance of maximizing space and efficiency in smaller kitchens, and we offer well-thought-out design solutions that combine versatility, accessibility, and personal style. We created the perfect design to cater to all of this. So let’s explore some of the features this design has to offer.

Main Kitchen Area

1: Refrigerator End Panels and Cabinets

One innovative design feature we recommend is incorporating refrigerator end panels with a full-depth cabinet above the refrigerator. This cabinet sits flush with the front of the refrigerator, providing easy access and eliminating the need for obstructive items on top. The end panels also give the refrigerator a sleek, built-in appearance. No more cereal boxes sitting out on top blocking access to a cabinet that can’t be used!

2: Roll-Out Garbage Can Cabinet

Conveniently located adjacent to the sink, a roll-out garbage can cabinet is a must-have for any modern kitchen. With a single or double bin design, this cabinet allows you to easily dispose of waste and recyclables while keeping them neatly concealed from view and out of reach of pets. With the soft close drawer slide, you can slam it or even use your foot without any damage! Plus if you recycle or have to return bottles & cans the second bin certainly comes in handy!

3: Lazy Susan Diagonal Corner Cabinets

Our lazy Susan corner cabinets solve the age-old problem of difficult-to-access corner storage. The diagonal wall corner cabinet features independent revolving shelves made of real wood, eliminating the issue of cracked plastic shelves or loose center poles. For L-shaped kitchen configurations, we recommend a two or three-tier lazy Susan to maximize accessibility while sacrificing minimal storage space.

4: Three-Drawer Cabinet and Spice Insert

Positioned next to the stove, a 24-inch three-drawer cabinet mounted on a beautiful full-extension, soft-close drawer glides offers ample storage and easy access to cooking essentials. To further enhance convenience, we can incorporate a spice insert to keep your most-used spices organized and within reach of the stove.

Center Island Area

Our ongoing well thought out design continues with the 5-foot island facing the stove. Since it is just a 180° pivot to the island from the stove we incorporated a tray base, a large pot and pan base, and an additional four drawer base for the smaller shallower necessities. This is perfect for cooking prep, hosting events, maximizing storage and space, and more! Islands are a great approach to using the most of what you have in a unique and stylish way. You can also check out our projects page for other island examples.

5: Four-Drawer Base Cabinet

One of the many additions that make your island complete is an 18-inch four-drawer base cabinet, providing a balance of standard and deep drawers to accommodate all your storage needs. The top drawer can be outfitted with a cutlery divider for added organization.

6: Pot and Pan Cabinet

One of our most popular cabinets, the 36-inch pot and pan cabinet, is strategically placed near the stove for maximum convenience. This can be fully customizable with its width to better cater to your needs. With a full-size standard top drawer that can be divided for flatware, cutlery, foils, wraps, and hot pads, this cabinet offers both ample storage and easy access to essential cooking tools.

7: Pull-Out Tray Base

Our well-thought-out design continues with an island facing the stove, featuring a pull-out tray base. This 9-inch space is perfect for storing shallow trays, cookie sheets, cutting boards, and pan lids within easy reach of the oven.

8: Pantry and Additional Storage

Across the room, we can incorporate additional storage solutions, such as roll-out trays for pantries, a K-cup drawer for coffee enthusiasts, or even a wine bar with a wine rack and stemware holder. This is a perfect way to add more charm to your kitchen. The diverse functionality of this area also includes rollout trays for smaller items that you wish to store. This area also presents an opportunity to showcase your personal collections with glass-fronted wall cabinets.

At Spielmaker Cabinets and Countertops, we believe that a well-designed kitchen should not only be functional but also reflect your personal style and make your daily life more efficient and enjoyable. Being able to enjoy a good cooking session in style and comfort, money well spent that didn’t break the bank.
